Dense 1U rack server

The HP ProLiant DL360 Gen9 is a 1U rack server built for space-constrained data centres and virtualisation clusters. It ships with a single Intel Xeon E5-2640v3 eight-core processor at 2.6GHz and 128GB of DDR4 ECC registered memory across 24 DIMM slots. Dual 500W hot-swap power supplies provide redundancy. The B140i controller manages software RAID 0, 1, 5 and 10 for SATA drives only.

Upgrade from single-socket or lower-core systems

Moving from a single-socket platform with fewer cores or less memory headroom is worthwhile when workloads demand more concurrent threads and larger in-memory datasets. The chassis supports a second Xeon E5-2600 v3 or v4 processor to reach up to 36 total cores and 3TB of DDR4. Eight 2.5-inch SFF bays allow storage expansion beyond the two included 500GB 7.2K SATA drives. The Matrox G200 graphics handle basic console output.

Check power, rail depth and RAID needs

Verify that your rack provides adequate depth and airflow for a 1U server with redundant power supplies. Confirm that your operating system and backup strategy support the B140i software RAID implementation, which is limited to SATA devices. Ensure the 24 DIMM slots are populated according to the processor’s memory-channel rules if you plan to add modules beyond the installed 128GB. No operating system is included.
