HP
2U rack server with one Xeon E5-2630v3 eight-core 2.4GHz processor, 96GB DDR4 memory, two 1TB 7.2K SATA drives and B140i software RAID
The HP ProLiant DL380 G9 is a 2U rack server designed for data centre workloads. It ships with a single Intel Xeon E5-2630v3 eight-core processor running at 2.4GHz and 96GB of DDR4 memory installed across 24 DIMM slots. Two 1TB 7.2K SATA drives and a B140i software RAID controller provide baseline storage redundancy for general-purpose applications.
The chassis supports redundant hot-swap 500W power supplies and eight SFF drive bays with trays included for the installed drives. Adding a second processor requires populating the corresponding 12 DIMM slots to maintain balanced memory channels. The B140i controller handles SATA RAID 0, 1, 5 and 10 only; it does not support SAS or NVME drives, so drive type mismatches are the most frequent configuration error.
The storage controller is limited to SATA RAID levels 0, 1, 5 and 10 and cannot address SAS or NVME devices. Buyers who need hardware RAID acceleration, SAS connectivity or NVME boot drives must select a different controller or server platform.
