HP
2U rack server with eight-core 2.4 GHz Xeon, 96 GB DDR4 and eight SFF drive bays
The HP ProLiant DL380 Gen9 is a 2U rack server built for virtualised workloads and business applications. It ships with a single Intel Xeon E5-2630 v3 eight-core processor running at 2.4GHz and 96GB of DDR4 ECC registered memory installed across 24 DIMM slots. The chassis provides eight 2.5-inch SFF drive bays and includes two drive trays with screws. A second processor can be added to reach the 36-core maximum.
Dual 500W hot-swap power supplies deliver N+1 redundancy for continuous operation in data-centre racks. The system uses the Intel C610 chipset and integrated Matrox G200eH2 graphics with 16MB video memory for basic console output. Memory operates at up to 2400MT/s depending on the installed processor, and the 24 DIMM slots support 4GB to 64GB DDR4 modules per slot. No operating system is included.
The onboard B140i controller provides RAID 0, 1, 5 and 10 for SATA drives only; it does not support SAS or NVME arrays. Buyers who need hardware RAID acceleration or SAS/NVME connectivity must add a separate controller card. The eight SFF bays accept 2.5-inch drives, and optional bay kits can expand capacity to 16 or 24 bays or add NVME slots in specific bays.

Other versions of this model
Same family, different memory, cooler or clock — compare before you commit.
Open the chassis, align the processor with the socket triangle, lower the retention lever fully, then apply the included thermal paste and attach the second heatsink; the step most often missed is torquing the heatsink screws in the diagonally opposite sequence printed on the bracket.
The two 500 W redundant hot-swap power supplies and the system fans are the field-replaceable parts rated for the shortest service interval; both can be swapped without tools while the server remains powered on.
The B140i software RAID engine is limited to SATA throughput and RAID 5 parity calculation, so the controller CPU becomes the bottleneck before the 12 Gb/s SAS backplane or drive media saturate.
