HP
2U rack server with one Xeon E5-2643 v3 at 3.4 GHz, 96 GB DDR4, two 1 TB SATA drives and B140i RAID
The HP ProLiant DL380 Gen9 is a 2U rack server built around a single six-core Xeon E5-2643 v3 running at 3.4 GHz. It ships with 96 GB of DDR4 memory installed across its 24 DIMM slots and includes two 1 TB 7.2 K SATA drives. The B140i controller provides software RAID 0, 1, 5 and 10 for SATA devices only.
Eight SFF bays accept 2.5-inch drives with included trays that slide in without tools. Two hot-swap 500 W power supplies share the load and allow replacement without downtime. The B140i controller does not support SAS or NVME drives, so only SATA media can be used in the standard eight-bay configuration.
The platform maxes out at 96 GB with the current processor, so no further DDR4 expansion is possible without a CPU upgrade. Additional eight-bay or NVME kits require the optional universal media bay or second bay kit, which are not included. Buyers needing SAS RAID or more than eight SATA bays should look at a different controller or chassis.

Same family, different memory, cooler or clock — compare before you commit.
Enter the BIOS or UEFI setup and confirm the storage configuration screen lists two 1 TB SATA volumes; the B140i firmware will also show RAID 0/1/5/10 options once the drives are detected.
The unit ships with one E5-2643 v3 CPU, 96 GB DDR4 across 24 DIMM slots, two 1 TB 7.2K 2.5″ SATA drives in trays, dual 500 W hot-swap power supplies and the Matrox G200eH2 GPU; an operating system and any extra drives or a second processor are not included.
The installed CPU provides 12 virtual cores with hyper-threading and supports the current 96 GB DDR4 limit; adding a second processor unlocks the full 24 DIMM slots and raises the ceiling to 3 TB for workloads that need more cores or memory.
