Integrated graphics handle console output while the P440 SAS RAID controller manages up to eight 2.5-inch drive bays. Remote management runs through HPE iLO Advanced for out-of-band control.

Upgrading from single-socket or lower-core systems

Moving from a single-processor box or a server with fewer than 16 cores per socket adds parallel throughput for hypervisor hosts and multi-threaded applications. The jump is worth it when licensing costs scale per socket and you need maximum core density within a two-processor limit. The 3 TB memory ceiling also leaves headroom for future DIMM expansion beyond the 384 GB installed today. Buyers who only need light web serving or single-threaded tasks will not use the extra cores.

The unit ships with two 500 W Flex Slot power supplies and an Intel I350/X540 card providing two 10 GbE and two 1 GbE ports, so verify your rack PDU connectors and switch port speeds match. Confirm the 36 x 24 x 10 inch dimensions fit your rack depth and that the 40 lb weight is within your shelf rating. Rail kits are available on request but not included, so order them if your cabinet requires sliding rails. No drives are installed; plan SAS storage separately.
