The HPE ProLiant DL380 Gen9 is a 2U rack server with a 24-bay small-form-factor chassis. It ships with two Intel Xeon E5-2640 v3 processors running at 2.6GHz and 768GB of DDR4 ECC registered memory. The integrated Smart Array P440ar controller with SAS expander manages up to 24 SATA drives. Dual 800W hot-plug power supplies and an Intel quad-port 10GbE/1GbE network card are installed. HPE iLO Advanced provides remote management.

Confirm that your rack can accommodate a 36 x 24 x 10 inch 2U unit weighing 40 pounds and that the facility provides redundant circuits for the dual 800W supplies. The server arrives without any drives installed; you must supply up to 24 2.5-inch SATA drives or SSDs compatible with the P440ar controller. Memory is DDR4 ECC registered; ensure any future expansion uses identical modules to reach the 3TB maximum. The rail kit is optional and not included by default.

Dual 800W supplies handle peak load

Two hot-plug 800W Flex Slot power supplies share the load, keeping each unit well within its efficiency curve during normal operation. The 24-drive front bay layout directs intake air across the drives and through the processor heatsinks before exhausting at the rear. Fan speeds ramp based on inlet temperature and CPU utilisation, so acoustic output rises only under sustained heavy compute or dense storage workloads. iLO Advanced monitors thermal sensors and can throttle or alert before thresholds are exceeded.
