The iStarUSA D-400L-7SE is a 4U rackmount server chassis built for high-density storage deployments. Its aluminium and steel construction houses seven external 5.25-inch bays, one external 3.5-inch bay and one internal 3.5-inch bay. The black enclosure with a blue aluminium front bezel includes a key lock for physical security. It accepts ATX, E-ATX and Micro-ATX motherboards.

Drive Density and Expansion Layout

When combined with compatible BPU or T Series backplanes the chassis supports up to twelve 3.5-inch or thirty-six 2.5-inch hot-swappable drives in RAID 0, 1, 5, 6 or JBOD configurations. Seven full-length full-height expansion slots accommodate long add-in cards such as RAID controllers or GPU accelerators. Two front USB 2.0 ports provide local peripheral access without reaching the rear panel.

Cooling and Monitoring Features

Four pre-installed fans — three 120 mm units and one 80 mm unit — deliver airflow through the 27.90-inch deep chassis. A centre hot-swappable 120 mm fan can be replaced without powering down the system. Front-panel LEDs report power, drive activity, temperature and fan status when the optional TC-ISF08 sensor board is fitted. Redundant power supply support is available for continuous operation.
