Adds dual isolated CAN channels to Raspberry Pi or Jetson Nano boards via 40-pin GPIO with MCP2515 and SN65HVD230 chips
This expansion HAT adds two isolated CAN channels to any Raspberry Pi series board or Jetson Nano through the standard 40-pin GPIO header. It uses an MCP2515 controller paired with an SN65HVD230 transceiver on each channel for reliable bus communication. The board targets developers building automotive, industrial or robotics networks that need redundant or separate CAN links.
The HAT mounts directly on the GPIO header and can be stacked with other compatible HATs to increase channel count. An onboard terminal accepts 7 to 36 V and powers both the HAT and the host board, removing the need for a separate supply. Jumpers select 3.3 V or 5 V logic levels and enable or disable the 120 Ω termination resistor per channel.
A unibody isolated supply and digital isolator separate the CAN side from the host, improving noise immunity and safety. An SM24CANB TVS diode clamps transient voltages and ESD events on the bus lines. These features mean the hardware handles harsh electrical environments without extra shielding or external protection circuits.

The HAT provides two independent CAN channels using the combined MCP2515 controller and SN65HVD230 transceiver pair.
The terminal accepts 7 to 36 V and can power both the HAT and the attached Raspberry Pi or Jetson Nano.
It matches the standard 40-pin header on Raspberry Pi series boards and the Jetson Nano.
