MakerBot
FDM printer with a 150 mm enclosed build volume, heated flexible plate, replaceable extruder, on-board camera, touchscreen, Wi-Fi, Ethernet, USB, and bundled PLA plus educator certifications
Model Sketch Standard
Option One-Printer Setup
The MakerBot Sketch Standard is a fused deposition modelling printer built for education environments. It offers a 150mm cubed build volume and accepts 1.75mm PLA filament. The system runs on Windows 7 or 10 and Mac OS X 10.12, though Catalina is not supported. CloudPrint software manages print jobs across a network.
A fully enclosed chassis houses a particulate filter for cleaner air during operation. The heated build plate is flexible to ease part removal and two plates are included in the box. A replaceable extruder module simplifies maintenance when a nozzle wears out. Connectivity covers USB, Ethernet and Wi-Fi for wired or wireless job submission.
A full colour touchscreen provides direct access to printer functions without a host computer. An integrated camera lets teachers monitor progress remotely through the CloudPrint portal. Power input accepts 100 to 240 volts at 50 to 60 hertz, drawing between 1.3 and 2.7 amps. The unit weighs 11.8kg and measures 547mm high by 535mm wide by 470mm deep.

Other versions of this model
Same family, different memory, cooler or clock — compare before you commit.
It connects via USB, Ethernet or Wi-Fi and works with Windows 7 or 10 and macOS 10.12 or later, though macOS Catalina is not supported.
The unit measures 547 mm high, 535 mm wide and 470 mm deep and weighs 11.8 kg, so it needs a sturdy bench at least 535 mm wide by 470 mm deep.
Unbox the printer, load one of the included PLA spools, level the flexible heated build plate, connect to MakerBot CloudPrint via USB, Ethernet or Wi-Fi, then send a sliced file; the step most often missed is running the bed-level calibration before the first print.
