ECC registered DDR5 kit adds 256 GB across four 64 GB modules at 4800 MT/s CL40 for compatible Lenovo ThinkSystem servers
Capacity 256GB (4 x 64GB)
This 256 GB kit contains four 64 GB DDR5 4800 ECC registered RDIMMs built for Lenovo ThinkSystem SD650 V3, SD650-I V3, SD665 V3, SD665-N V3 and SR630 V3 servers. It is designed for administrators who need error-correcting, registered memory in a 288-pin form factor and cannot use standard desktop modules. The kit will not work in consumer motherboards or alongside unbuffered or load-reduced DIMMs.
Operating at 1.1 V, the modules follow the JEDEC DDR5 baseline for registered server memory. No heat spreaders are fitted, so airflow through the server chassis provides all cooling. Power draw scales with the 4800 MT/s data rate and the 2Rx4 organisation, matching the thermal envelope expected by the qualified ThinkSystem platforms. Acoustic impact is limited to the existing system fans.
JEDEC and RoHS compliance means the upgrade preserves the original server warranty. OWC adds an advanced replacement programme and lifetime technical support, so a failed module can be swapped without waiting for a standard RMA. The package contains only the four DIMMs; no cables, brackets or software utilities are included.

Other versions of this model
Same family, different memory, cooler or clock — compare before you commit.
Power down the server, open the chassis, align each 288-pin module with its slot, press firmly until the ejector tabs click, then verify in BIOS that all 256GB are detected at 4800 MT/s; the step often missed is seating every module fully so both tabs lock.
The modules have no moving parts or heat spreaders; apart from keeping server air filters clean to maintain airflow, no scheduled maintenance is required, and replacement is only needed if a module fails ECC correction or the platform is upgraded beyond DDR5 4800.
The registered DDR5 4800 CL40 specification caps bandwidth at 38400 MB/s per module, so sustained throughput hits the JEDEC speed ceiling before thermal throttling becomes a factor at the standard 1.1V operating voltage.
