Entry-level desktop UPS

The APC BE425M is a 425 VA, 255 W battery backup designed for home desktops, wireless routers and gaming consoles. It provides six NEMA 5-15R outlets, four of which deliver battery backup while the remaining two supply surge-only protection. The unit accepts an input range of 88 to 139 V and auto-senses 50 or 60 Hz mains frequency.

Square-wave output under load

During an outage the inverter produces a square-wave output at 120 V, synchronised to the mains frequency with a 6 ms transfer time. At full 255 W load the sealed lead-acid battery lasts around 2 minutes; at half load of 127.5 W runtime extends to around 10 minutes. Recharge from depletion requires approximately 8 hours before the next event.

Wall-mountable tower with wiring fault LED

The tower chassis includes keyhole slots for wall mounting and wider outlet spacing to accommodate bulky transformers. A Building Wiring Fault indicator LED alerts users to unsafe wall-circuit conditions. Audible alarms signal on-battery and low-battery states and can be silenced through multiple alarm settings. Surge energy rating is 180 joules.
