This motherboard and CPU combination pairs the ASUS PRIME B650-PLUS with an AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D processor. The AM5 socket supports Ryzen 9000, 8000 and 7000 series desktop CPUs. Four DDR5 slots accept up to 256 GB of memory. The board delivers PCIe 5.0 on the primary M.2 slot and 2.5 Gb Ethernet for fast networking.

Sustained Load Behaviour

The Ryzen 9 9950X3D runs at a 170 W TDP with 128 MB of L3 cache and 16 MB of L2 cache. The motherboard provides a VRM heatsink, an M.2 heatsink and a PCH heatsink linked to hybrid fan headers controlled by Fan Xpert 2+. This cooling arrangement is designed to maintain performance during extended workloads rather than brief bursts.

Build and Connectors

The ATX board uses 288-pin DDR5 slots with OptiMem II trace routing for signal integrity. Rear I/O includes HDMI, DisplayPort, USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C, USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-C and USB4 support.
