The Dell 400-AJQM is a new 1.8 TB internal hard drive with a 2.5-inch form factor. It connects through a SAS 12Gb/s interface and spins at 10000 RPM to provide fast disk access. This drive is designed to increase storage capacity in compatible Dell servers or workstations.

Suited for SAS bays; not for 512e

It fits administrators who need high-speed capacity in a 2.5-inch SAS slot. Buyers whose operating environment does not support 512e or 4Kn sector formats should look elsewhere. VMware environments are explicitly unsupported for these drive formats. Windows versions prior to 2008 R2 and non-UEFI boot configurations are also incompatible.

SAS 12Gb/s interface determines compatibility

The single specification that decides fitment is the SAS 12Gb/s interface. The system backplane or controller must provide a matching SAS connection. Without that interface the drive cannot be installed or used.
