PowerEdge R730 8SFF for dense compute

The Dell PowerEdge R730 packs eight 2.5-inch drive bays into a 2U rack frame and ships with one Xeon E5-2699 v4 processor running at 2.2 GHz. Twenty-two cores and 55 MB of cache give the platform strong multi-threaded throughput for virtualization hosts, database nodes or high-performance computing clusters. A second socket remains open for future expansion. Integrated graphics and iDRAC8 Enterprise remote management simplify deployment in lights-out data centres.

PERC H730 controller and 10 GbE networking

The bundled PERC H730 SAS controller adds hardware RAID across SATA drives, offloading parity calculations from the CPU and providing battery-backed write cache for data integrity. Dual 10 GbE ports from the installed Intel network card deliver high-throughput connectivity for storage replication or VM migration, while two 1 GbE links handle management traffic. Redundant 495 W power supplies keep the system running during a single-unit failure.

256 GB DDR4 with 768 GB ceiling

The server arrives with 256 GB of DDR4 ECC registered memory installed, leaving headroom to reach the 768 GB maximum supported by the platform. That capacity comfortably runs dozens of virtual machines or large in-memory databases today. Growth beyond the current DIMM count requires additional modules and, optionally, the second processor to unlock all memory channels. No drives are included, so storage capacity starts at zero until populated.
