Dual 14-core Xeon server for dense workloads

This 2U rack system ships with two Intel Xeon E5-2680 v4 processors running at 2.4 GHz with a 3.3 GHz turbo. Fourteen cores per socket deliver 28 threads for virtualization, databases and high-performance computing nodes. The chassis fits 24 drive bays in a compact footprint for midsize and large enterprise deployments.

Storage attaches through a Dell PERC H730 1 GB controller that supports RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60 plus pass-through mode. Twenty-four enterprise 600 GB 10K SAS drives are installed, providing raw capacity through a 12 Gb/s backplane. No SSD bays are populated in this configuration.

64 GB DDR4 registered ECC with room to grow

Four 16 GB DDR4 2400 MHz modules occupy four of twenty-four DIMM slots, leaving twenty slots open for expansion up to 1.5 TB. The current 64 GB suits moderate virtualization clusters and database instances; memory-heavy analytics or large VDI farms will require additional modules to avoid swapping.
