1U rack server with dual SAS drives

This 1U rack server ships with a single Intel Xeon E5-2620 v3 six-core processor at 2.4 GHz and 8 GB of DDR4 ECC registered memory. Two 1 TB 3.5-inch SAS hard drives at 7.2 K RPM connect through the HP Smart HBA H240ar controller with support for RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60. Dual 500 W redundant hot-swap power supplies are included and no operating system is installed.

Fits virtualisation hosts

Buyers who need GPU acceleration, more than four 3.5-inch drive bays or a boot interface other than SAS or SATA should look elsewhere. The chassis holds only four LFF bays and the integrated Matrox G200 graphics provide basic console output only.

Single E5-2620 v3 limits core count

With one processor installed the system reaches 12 physical cores and 24 threads. The memory subsystem offers 24 DIMM slots yet the installed capacity is 8 GB and the single-CPU memory ceiling is far below the dual-processor maximum of 3 TB. Adding a second compatible Xeon is required to unlock the full core and memory potential.
