The Smart HBA H240ar controller manages two 600 GB 15K SAS drives with RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60 support. Dual 500 W hot-swap power supplies provide redundancy for continuous operation.

Memory headroom and storage limits

The platform supports up to 3 TB of DDR4 when all 24 slots are populated with 64 GB modules, though the supplied CPUs cap memory speed at 2400 MT/s. Eight SFF drive bays accept 2.5-inch SAS or SATA devices; only two are filled with the 600 GB 15K spindles, leaving six bays open for capacity expansion. The H240ar delivers 12 Gb SAS and 6 Gb SATA throughput to the backplane.

Thermal behaviour and power profile

Redundant 500 W power supplies share the load, so each unit runs well below its rating during typical virtualised workloads. The 1U chassis uses high-speed system fans that ramp with CPU and drive temperatures; acoustic output is noticeable in quiet offices but normal for a dense rack environment. Hot-swap supplies allow replacement without shutting down the server.
