LORDWORLD Serial HAT 2-Ch UART 8 GPIO I2C 40-Pin development board

SKU CH-F5HR-TKQ5M

Adds two extra UART channels and eight programmable GPIOs via I2C using an SC16IS752, stackable to 16 boards for 32 channels

  • Adds two extra UART channels via SC16IS752 I2C bridge
  • Provides eight programmable GPIOs without using additional pins
  • Stackable design supports up to 16 boards for 32 UART channels
  • Standard 40-pin header fits Raspberry Pi series boards
  • Includes C and Python examples with development resources

Two-Channel UART Expansion

This HAT adds two extra UART channels and eight programmable GPIOs to any Raspberry Pi with a 40-pin header. It connects through I2C using an onboard SC16IS752 controller so no additional GPIO pins are consumed. The board targets makers and engineers who need more serial ports for sensors, modems or industrial equipment.

Stackable 40-Pin Header Design

The module uses the standard 40-pin GPIO extension header and can be stacked up to 16 boards by setting the address jumper, yielding a maximum of 32 UART channels. Stacking allows large-scale deployments without cable clutter or extra headers. Development resources with C and Python examples are included to accelerate integration.

Upgrade from Single-UART Limitations

The board replaces work-arounds such as software serial or USB adapters when a project demands multiple reliable hardware UARTs. The jump is worth it when deterministic timing, hardware flow control or simultaneous serial streams are required. Builders who only need one extra serial line or who lack I2C bandwidth will not benefit.

Perguntas sobre este artigo

What I2C interface does the SC16IS752 use to add two UART channels and eight GPIOs?

The SC16IS752 bridges the Raspberry Pi I2C bus to provide two additional UART channels and eight programmable GPIOs without consuming extra GPIO pins.

What physical header does this HAT require on the Raspberry Pi?

It mounts on the standard 40-pin GPIO extension header found on Raspberry Pi 4B, 3B+, 3B, 2B+ and Zero W boards.

How do I configure the address jumper when stacking multiple HATs?

Set a unique address jumper position on each board so up to 16 modules can share the I2C bus, yielding a total of 32 UART channels.
