DDR4 3200 registered ECC interface limits

Registered DDR4 3200 tops out at the PC4-25600 data rate with a single command per cycle. ECC adds parity overhead that reduces usable bandwidth compared to unbuffered equivalents. The 288-pin RDIMM form factor fits only registered DIMM slots; it will not seat in unbuffered UDIMM or SO-DIMM sockets. Mixed-rank populations may force the memory controller to run below the rated 3200 MT/s speed.

64GB capacity headroom for virtualisation

Two ranks per module (2Rx8) give the memory controller more open pages, helping multi-threaded server applications such as virtualisation hosts and in-memory databases. The 64GB total suits moderate consolidation workloads but will exhaust once container density or dataset size grows beyond the installed footprint.
