OWC 64GB DDR4 ECC RDIMM kit

This kit provides 64GB of DDR4 2933 ECC Registered memory in two 32GB modules. It is built for servers and workstations that require registered DIMMs with error correction. Standard desktop computers cannot use this memory type. Mixing it with unbuffered or load-reduced modules is not supported.

Registered DDR4 2933 speed limits

The modules run at DDR4 2933 with CL21 latency and 1.2V voltage. They are backward compatible with 2133MHz, 2400MHz and 2666MHz system buses. Registered DIMMs add a clock cycle of buffering, so the memory controller must support registered operation. This memory will not function in platforms that only accept unbuffered DIMMs.

Installing in PowerEdge C4140 systems

The 288-pin RDIMMs install directly into the server's memory slots; no heat spreader is present. Common issues include populating slots in the wrong order for the CPU configuration or mixing ranks incorrectly. The kit replaces Dell part numbers 8WKDY, AA579531, AA601616, AB003153, SNP8WKDYC/32G and SNP8WKDYC/32VXR. Verify the system BIOS is current before installation.
