PCIe 16X Riser for Compact Chassis

This riser extender lets you mount a PCIe x16 graphics card or controller in 1U, 2U or 3U chassis where a full-length slot is not accessible. It accepts x1, x4, x8 and x16 cards while operating at x1 electrical speed. The 20 cm ribbon cable gives enough reach for tight server or workstation layouts. A Molex power connector supplies extra 12 V current to the attached card.

Bandwidth Limited to x1 Electrical Speed

Although the slot is mechanically x16, the flexible FFC cable carries only a single lane so every installed device runs at PCIe x1 throughput. This is adequate for capture cards, network adapters or secondary GPUs used for compute, but it will bottleneck modern gaming graphics cards. The cable’s high-speed design maintains signal integrity within the 20 cm length, yet it cannot deliver multi-lane bandwidth.

Check Slot Height and Power Before Buying

Verify that your chassis can accommodate a single-slot riser board plus the ribbon bend radius in the target rack unit. Ensure the power supply has a free Molex connector to feed the card’s auxiliary 12 V rail. Confirm the host motherboard provides a physical x16 slot; the riser will not fit smaller mechanical slots. No driver installation is required for the riser itself.
