Dual Xeon Gold 5118 2U server

This 2U rack server ships with two Intel Xeon Gold 5118 processors at 2.3 GHz, twelve cores each, and 768 GB of DDR4 ECC memory across twenty-four DIMM slots. A MegaRAID 9361-8i controller manages twelve hot-swap 3.5-inch SATA/SAS bays. Four 10GBase-T ports and a dedicated IPMI 2.0 LAN port handle data and remote management.

Suits virtualisation and storage clusters

The dual-socket design and large memory capacity fit hyper-converged or virtualised workloads that need many cores and fast networking. Buyers who require NVMe U.2 or U.3 support must add a separate storage card, as the backplane is SATA/SAS only. Sites without 10 GbE infrastructure will not use the onboard X710 ports.

Twelve 3.5-inch hot-swap bays decide fit

Twelve front trays accept 3.5-inch SATA or SAS drives; no drives are included. The MegaRAID 9361-8i provides eight internal ports with RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50, 60 and a 1 GB cached battery-backed module. If the deployment needs more than twelve bays or native NVMe slots, this chassis cannot meet that requirement.
