Adafruit Music Maker FeatherWing VS1053B

This FeatherWing adds a VS1053B codec to any Feather board so it can decode Ogg Vorbis, MP3, MP2, MP1, MP4, AAC, WMA, FLAC, WAV and MIDI files. Digital control of bass, treble and volume is built in, along with dozens of drum and sample effects. The wing communicates over a lightweight SPI interface and can also boot into a MIDI synth mode that reads 31250 Kbaud data from the UART TX pin. It is a compact add-on for makers who want audio playback or synthesis in a Feather form factor.

Who should use this and who should not

Engineers and hobbyists building portable music players, synthesiser projects or sound-effect triggers with a Feather microcontroller will find the supported codec range and on-board effects useful. Projects that require audio recording, multi-channel output or an I2S digital audio interface are not served by this wing. Builders who need a larger shield footprint or direct line-level inputs should look at a different form factor.
