Socket AM3+ platform board

The ASUS M5A97 EVO R2.0 is a 970 chipset motherboard built for AMD AM3+ processors. It supports Athlon II, Phenom II and FX series CPUs. The board targets builders assembling or refreshing a system around these socket AM3+ chips.

Upgrade path for legacy AMD systems

This board replaces an older AM3 or early AM3+ motherboard when the 970 chipset and updated power delivery are required. The jump is worth it when the existing board lacks USB 3.0 Boost with UASP or the newer DIGI+ power control. It does not suit builders who want more storage lanes or a second graphics card slot.

Straightforward ATX installation
