Eight DDR4 slots support 128 GB on 6-core-and-above CPUs, while dual M.2 sockets run at PCIe 3.0 x4 for consistent storage throughput during long renders or compiles.
PCIe 3.0 and DDR4 limits
PCIe 3.0 caps each lane at 8 GT/s, so total bandwidth scales with the installed CPU lane count of 16, 28 or 44 lanes. DDR4 tops out at 4133 MT/s overclocked on this platform; native JEDEC speeds stop at 2666 MT/s, and memory capacity is limited to 64 GB on 4-core processors.
