PCIe 3.0 x4 NVMe interface practical limits

The 8 TB array uses two 4 TB M.2 drives on a PCIe 3.0 x4 NVMe link. Sequential throughput is bounded by the 3.0 generation rather than newer 4.0 or 5.0 lanes. Random read and write latency follows the same controller generation. Sustained heavy writes may hit thermal limits on the M.2 slots before the interface saturates.
