The Athena Power RM-1U1122HE12 is a 1U rackmount chassis that fits MicroATX, ATX, E-ATX and Mini-ITX boards. It provides twelve front-accessible 2.5-inch hot-swap bays for SAS or SATA drives. The unit targets builders who need dense storage in a single rack unit. Buyers who require 3.5-inch drive support or more than twelve bays should look elsewhere.

Sustained-load thermal behaviour

Six 40 x 40 x 56 mm high-CFM fans sit in the centre of the chassis to move air across the drive bays and motherboard. The 1.2 mm SGCC shell and metal caddy design add structural rigidity and EMI grounding up to 5 kV. Anti-vibration mounts on each caddy help keep drive temperatures stable during continuous operation. No liquid-cooling provisions or larger fan mounts are present.

Installation and common pitfalls

Tool-less drive caddies accept enterprise 2.5-inch drives up to 15 mm height and lock with a metal triangle security latch. The 12 Gb/s Mini-SAS HD backplane uses SFF-8643 connectors; cables are not included. Power options are FlexATX, 1U single or 1U redundant units, all sold separately. Front-panel LEDs show power, drive activity, LAN1, LAN2 and warning status. Depth of 25.30 inches may exceed some shallow racks.
