This 8GB kit provides two 4GB DDR3-1333 registered ECC modules built for Intel S3420GP series servers. The CL9 1.5V DIMMs use a 2Rx4 organisation and 240-pin form factor. They are designed for systems that require registered memory with error correction.

Registered DDR3 Speed Limits

Registered ECC DIMMs operate at 1333MHz when two or four modules are installed, dropping to 800MHz with six DIMMs populated. Quad-rank registered DIMMs run at 1066MHz with two modules and 800MHz with four. Unbuffered ECC DIMMs are limited to four sockets and cannot fill the last bank.

Upgrade From Unbuffered Or Smaller Kits

This registered kit replaces unbuffered ECC memory when the platform demands registered modules for larger capacities. The jump is worth it when moving beyond four DIMM slots or targeting the 32GB maximum using quad-rank RDIMMs. Core i3 systems cannot use these registered DIMMs.
