The CyberPower EC850LCD is a 120 V standby uninterruptible power supply rated at 850 VA and 510 W. It provides simulated sine wave output and surge protection for desktop computers, workstations, networking devices and home entertainment systems. Twelve NEMA 5-15R outlets and a USB communication port offer broad connectivity for essential equipment. ECO Mode automatically cuts power to selected outlets when the host computer enters sleep or off states.

Capacity and headroom

At half load the internal sealed lead-acid battery delivers 7.9 minutes of runtime, dropping to 2.3 minutes at the full 510 W rating. The unit recharges in 8 hours and the battery is not user-replaceable. Automatic voltage regulation keeps output at 120 Vac ±5% while auto-sensing input frequency between 47 and 63 Hz. Overload and low-battery alarms warn before protection trips.

Upgrade path and when it matters

This model replaces basic surge strips by adding battery backup and USB-managed shutdown via PowerPanel Personal software. The jump is worthwhile when a power loss would corrupt open work or drop network links, and the 510 W ceiling covers typical single-PC-plus-peripheral loads. Builds requiring pure sine wave output, longer runtimes, user-swappable batteries or higher wattage headroom will need a different topology.
