This is a new Dell 6W3V5 enterprise hard drive with 600 GB capacity and a 10000 RPM spindle. It uses a 2.5 inch mechanism mounted in a 3.5 inch carrier for hot-swap server bays. The interface runs at 12 Gb/s SAS.

Suits PowerEdge servers needing hot-swap 3.5 inch

It fits the listed PowerEdge R330, R430, R530, R630, R730, R730xd, T330, T430, T630, T340 and T440 models where a 3.5 inch carrier is required. Builders using 2.5 inch only bays or non-SAS backplanes cannot use this carrier.

12 Gb/s SAS interface decides compatibility

The drive communicates over a 12 Gb/s SAS link, so the server backplane and controller must support that standard. If the system only provides 6 Gb/s SAS or a different protocol, the drive will not operate at its rated speed or may not be recognised.
