Enterprise 15K SAS Drive

This 600 GB SAS drive spins at 15000 RPM and is built for Dell PowerEdge servers. It includes a caddy for direct installation in compatible bays. The 32 MB buffer supports high transaction rates in enterprise storage arrays. It is not designed for home PCs or SAN deployments.

Sustained 15K Operation

The 15000 RPM spindle maintains consistent throughput under continuous read and write workloads. The SAS 6Gb/s interface keeps command queuing efficient during heavy I/O. Mechanical latency stays predictable because the rotational speed does not throttle. This behaviour suits database logs and virtualisation hosts that run around the clock.

SAS 6Gb/s Practical Limits

The 6Gb/s SAS link caps maximum transfer rate at the interface level. Cable length and backplane topology can reduce realised bandwidth below the theoretical peak. The drive cannot exceed the throughput ceiling of the SAS 6Gb/s standard. Systems requiring higher link speeds need a different interface generation.
