The Dell N36YX is a 3.5 inch internal hard drive built for desktop workstations and entry servers that need high-capacity bulk storage. It connects through a SAS interface running at 6 Gbps and spins at 7.2K RPM. The drive is supplied new and uses a standard LFF form factor.

Capacity and headroom

With 4 TB of space the drive holds large media libraries, backups and archival datasets without filling quickly. Sequential throughput suits sustained reads and writes such as video ingest or nightly backup jobs. Random access performance drops sharply with heavy multi-user database loads or virtual machine clusters.

Upgrade path

This unit replaces a 3 TB SATA drive of the same 3.5 inch size, doubling capacity while keeping the same mounting points and cable routing.
