The Dell OptiPlex 5040 Mini Tower ships with Windows 10 Pro and an Intel Core i5-6500 that runs at 3.2 GHz and reaches 3.6 GHz on four cores. Eight gigabytes of DDR3 1600 memory and a 250 GB SATA SSD provide responsive everyday performance for productivity applications. Integrated Intel HD Graphics 530 drives up to three displays through HDMI 1.4 and two DisplayPort 1.2 outputs.

Ready-to-use software and expansion headroom

Windows 10 Professional is pre-installed so the system is operational immediately after unpacking. Four DIMM slots allow memory to be increased to 32 GB, while drive bays include one 3.5 inch, two 2.5 inch and one 5.25 inch slimline bay plus an M.2 2280 slot for additional storage. A DVDRW drive is fitted as standard.

Compact chassis with extensive legacy I/O

The black mini-tower enclosure measures 15.4 by 6.1 by 13.8 inches and weighs 18 lbs, fitting easily on or under a desk. External ports comprise six USB 3.0 and four USB 2.0 connectors, RJ-45, serial, two PS/2, audio jacks and optional VGA. Internal expansion offers two full-height PCIe x16 slots, one PCIe x1 and one PCI slot. A 240 W power supply powers the configuration; a power cable is included while keyboard, mouse and video cable are not.
