The Dell OptiPlex 990 Mini Tower ships new with an Intel Core i7-2600 quad-core processor running at 3.40 GHz with a 3.90 GHz turbo boost. It includes 16 GB of DDR3 memory, a 128 GB solid-state drive, a 2 TB hard drive, a DVD-RW drive and Windows 10 Pro 64-bit. A USB keyboard and mouse are supplied in the box.

DDR3 memory and 265 W power limit

The system uses 240-pin DDR3 DIMM modules and the 265 W power supply restricts the graphics cards and additional drives that can be added. Integrated Intel HD Graphics 2000 drives the display outputs without a discrete card. Gigabit Ethernet provides the wired network connection.

Mini-tower access with proprietary constraints

The chassis opens for drive and memory upgrades but uses Dell-specific front-panel connectors and a non-standard power supply shape. The 2.5-inch SSD and 3.5-inch hard drive bays are fixed in place. Installing a low-profile graphics card requires checking the physical clearance and the 265 W budget.
