This half-height PowerEdge M640 blade installs in Dell MX or M1000e chassis and carries two Intel Xeon Gold 6154 processors, each with 18 cores running at 3.0 GHz and a 3.7 GHz turbo. The 64 GB of DDR4-2666 registered ECC memory occupies four of sixteen slots, leaving room to scale toward the platform maximum. The PERC H330 controller manages two 1.92 TB SATA SSDs in RAID 0, 1, 5, 10 or 50.

Check chassis slot and network fabric

Verify that your MX or M1000e enclosure has an available half-height bay and that the mid-plane fabric matches the installed Broadcom 57810S-K 10 Gb dual-port daughter card. The blade has no front bezel or ready rails, so confirm mounting hardware is present in the chassis. No operating system is loaded; plan for hypervisor or OS deployment before putting the node into production.

iDRAC9 Enterprise and 10 Gb networking included

The iDRAC9 Enterprise licence enables full remote console, virtual media and automated lifecycle management without a separate purchase. The 57810S-K daughter card adds two 10 Gb Ethernet ports directly on the blade, removing the need for extra mezzanine cards for basic connectivity. Matrox G200 graphics with 8 MB video memory provide only basic local display output.
