This half-height PowerEdge M640 blade fits the MX and M1000e chassis and carries two Intel Xeon Platinum 8260 processors at 2.4 GHz with 3.9 GHz turbo across 24 cores each. It is aimed at data-centre teams running virtualization, private cloud or high-performance computing workloads that need maximum compute in minimum rack space.

64 GB DDR4 with room to 1.5 TB and dual 960 GB NVMe

Installed memory is 64 GB of registered ECC DDR4 at 2933 MHz across four slots, leaving headroom up to the platform maximum of 1.5 TB across 16 slots. Two 960 GB U.2 NVMe PCIe Gen3 drives on the integrated PERC S140 controller handle boot and hot data; RAID 0, 1, 5 and 10 are supported for local redundancy.

Blade form factor with 10 Gb networking and iDRAC9

The blade relies on the chassis for power, cooling and I/O, so no rails or bezel are included. A Broadcom 57810S-K dual-port 10 Gb daughter card provides high-speed fabric connectivity, while iDRAC9 Enterprise gives full remote management with automation APIs. Matrox G200 graphics with 8 MB video memory covers basic console output only.
