The Dell PowerEdge M640 is a half-height blade built for dense compute clusters. Two Intel Xeon Gold 6154 processors supply 36 cores at 3.0 GHz with 3.7 GHz turbo. It targets IT teams running virtualization, private cloud or high-performance computing workloads inside a PowerEdge MX or M1000e chassis.

Integrated 10 Gb networking and iDRAC9 Enterprise

The blade includes a Broadcom 57810S-K dual-port 10 Gb daughter card and iDRAC9 Enterprise for remote management. Storage uses a PERC S140 controller with two 960 GB SATA SSDs in a 2.5-inch bay. Front bezel and ready rails are not supplied, so rack installation requires existing chassis hardware.

512 GB DDR4 across 16 populated slots

Memory is configured as 16 modules of 32 GB DDR4 2666 MHz registered ECC, filling every slot. The platform maximum is 1.5 TB, so further expansion means replacing modules. Buyers who need more capacity than 512 GB must plan a full memory swap.
