The Dell PowerEdge R430 is a 1U rack server fitted with two Intel Xeon E5-2650 v3 ten-core processors running at 2.3 GHz. Forty virtual cores are available when hyper-threading is enabled. It ships with 48 GB of DDR4 memory across twelve DIMM slots and three 1 TB 7.2K 2.5-inch enterprise SATA drives managed by a PERC H330 RAID controller.

Before ordering

Verify that your rack can accept a 1U chassis measuring 26.7 inches deep and 18.99 inches wide. Ensure the cabinet provides sufficient airflow for a unit with a single 550 W redundant power supply. Confirm the PERC H330 controller supports the RAID level you require from RAID 0, 1, 5, 10, 50 or 60. Check that your existing drives are 2.5-inch SAS or SATA models compatible with the eight hot-plug bays.

Build integration

The server occupies one rack unit and includes a DVD-ROM drive and Matrox G200eR2 graphics with 8 MB cache. Four 1 GbE network ports handle baseline connectivity. Two PCIe 3.0 slots are available for additional adapters such as extra NICs or storage controllers. iDRAC8 with Lifecycle Controller provides remote management out of the box. The twelve DIMM slots allow memory expansion up to 384 GB using DDR4 modules up to 2400 MT/s. Five drive bays remain free for future storage growth.
