The Dell PowerEdge R430 is a 1U rack server fitted with a single Intel Xeon E5-2650 v3 ten-core processor running at 2.3 GHz and 16 GB of DDR4 memory. It ships with three 1.2 TB 7.2K SAS drives and a PERC H330 RAID controller supporting RAID 0, 1, 5, 10, 50 and 60. The chassis provides eight 2.5-inch hot-plug bays and includes a DVD-ROM drive.

Redundant power and remote management

A 550 W redundant hot-swap power supply keeps the system running if one module fails. Four 1 GbE network ports handle standard LAN connectivity. The integrated iDRAC8 with Lifecycle Controller provides out-of-band remote management for deployment, monitoring and firmware updates without an operating system. Two PCIe 3.0 slots are available for additional controllers or adapters.

Memory ceiling and drive count to verify

The installed 16 GB uses two of twelve DIMM slots; the platform supports up to 384 GB when a second processor is added, but the current single-CPU configuration limits usable slots to six. Only three drive bays are populated, leaving five empty 2.5-inch bays for expansion. Buyers needing more than 16 GB of RAM or more than three drives should confirm their processor and bay requirements before ordering.
