The PowerEdge R530 is a 2U rack server designed for environments that need up to eight 3.5-inch hot-plug SAS or SATA drives. A single Intel Xeon E5-2603 v3 six-core processor running at 1.6 GHz and 8 GB of DDR4 memory handle file, backup or archive tasks. The PERC H330 controller supports RAID 0, 1, 5, 10, 50 and 60 across the drive bays.

Fits a standard rack with room to grow

The chassis occupies 2U and provides twelve DIMM slots, six per processor socket, allowing memory expansion up to 384 GB when a second CPU is added. Five PCIe slots — three at 3.0 and two at 2.0 — accept additional network or storage cards. Dual 750 W redundant power supplies and an iDRAC8 remote-management module are included; rail kit, bezel and peripherals are not.

Thermals managed by redundant cooling

Dual hot-swap 750 W power supplies share the load, reducing strain on any single unit and keeping fan speeds moderate under typical file-serving loads. The Matrox G200 graphics subsystem draws minimal power, leaving most of the thermal budget for the CPU and drive array. iDRAC8 monitors temperatures and power draw remotely so administrators can act before thresholds are crossed.
