The Dell PowerEdge R540 is a 2U rack server fitted with two Intel Xeon Gold 6130 processors running at 2.1 GHz with 16 cores each. It ships with 128 GB of DDR4 2666 MHz registered ECC memory across eight slots. The system targets virtualization, database hosting and file-serving workloads in business IT environments. No operating system is included.

128 GB DDR4 and eight 3.5-inch bays

Memory can be expanded to 1 TB using the 16 available DDR4 slots, giving headroom for larger virtual-machine fleets or in-memory databases. The PERC H730P controller with 2 GB cache supports RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60 across eight 3.5-inch SAS or SATA drive trays. Drive bays are empty, so storage capacity starts at zero and scales with the disks you add.

Redundant 750 W platinum PSUs and iDRAC9

Dual hot-swap 750 W 80+ Platinum power supplies provide redundancy without shutting down for a swap. The integrated dual-port 1 GbE network daughter card handles basic connectivity. iDRAC 9 Enterprise enables full remote management, monitoring and automation over a dedicated interface. Rails and a front bezel are included for rack mounting.
