The system ships with a Perc H730 RAID controller and two 300 GB 15 K SAS drives.

Confirm your cabinet can accommodate the 26.8-inch chassis depth and that two 750 W redundant supplies match your PDU connectors. The server supports up to eight 2.5-inch hot-plug bays but only two drives are installed. Memory currently uses 24 DIMM slots at the 48 GB maximum for this CPU configuration.

Redundant power and remote management

What comes in the box and what must I buy separately?

The server includes two E5-2620 V3 processors, 48GB DDR4, two 300GB 15K SAS drives, H730 RAID controller, dual 750W supplies, rails and iDRAC8 Express. Operating system and additional drives or memory are not included.

Should I choose the 48GB configuration or add more DDR4?

48GB fills a fraction of the 24 DIMM slots. If your workloads need more capacity, add matched DDR4 modules up to the 1536GB maximum; otherwise the installed 48GB is ready to run.

What does the 2.4GHz figure mean once the server is running?

Each of the twelve cores runs at 2.4GHz base frequency. With Hyper-Threading the OS sees 24 logical threads, so multi-threaded applications can distribute work across all threads at that clock speed.
