The Dell PowerEdge R630 fits two Xeon E5-2620 V3 processors and 96 GB of DDR4 into a single rack unit. It targets teams that need high core density for virtualisation hosts, database nodes or compute clusters without consuming extra rack space. The 24 DIMM slots are already fully populated at the 96 GB installed capacity.

Sustained load with redundant power and hardware

Dual 750 W hot-swap power supplies keep the system running if one unit fails, while the H730 controller with 2 GB cache manages RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60 across up to eight 2.5-inch SAS or SATA drives. The C610 chipset and PCIe 3.0 lanes maintain steady throughput for mixed read and write workloads over long periods.

Verify drive trays, network card and memory ceiling

The chassis ships without drive trays or drives, so you must source compatible 2.5-inch caddies before populating the eight bays. The default daughter card provides four 1 GbE ports; 10 GbE mezzanine cards are optional extras. Maximum supported memory is 1536 GB, but the installed CPUs limit actual DIMM speed to 2400 MT/s.
