The Dell PowerEdge R640 is a 1U rack server built for scale-out workloads. Two Xeon Gold 5118 processors deliver 24 cores at 2.3 GHz with 3.2 GHz turbo. 128 GB of DDR4 ECC memory fills eight of 24 slots. Eight 400 GB SATA SSDs provide fast storage in a compact chassis.

PERC H730P controller with 2 GB cache

The storage subsystem centres on the Dell PERC H730P 2 GB controller supporting RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60 plus pass-through. It manages the eight installed 2.5-inch SATA SSDs over a 12 Gb/s SAS/SATA interface. Battery-backed cache protects in-flight writes during power loss.

Redundant 750 W PSUs and iDRAC9 Enterprise
