Dense dual-socket compute in 1U

The PowerEdge R640 packs two Xeon Gold 6142 processors, each with 16 cores at 2.6 GHz, into a single rack unit. It targets workloads that need high thread density such as virtualisation clusters, container hosts or batch processing farms.

64 GB DDR4 and eight 300 GB SAS drives

Four 16 GB registered ECC modules leave 20 empty slots for expansion up to the platform maximum. The PERC H730P controller supports RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60 across the eight 10K SAS spindles; capacity will constrain datasets larger than a few terabytes.

Redundant platinum supplies and quad-port networking

Dual 750 W hot-swap units keep the system running through a power-module failure. The X520/I350 daughter card delivers two 1 GbE and two 10 GbE SFP+ links, while iDRAC9 Enterprise provides dedicated out-of-band management. Ready rails and a front bezel are included for immediate rack mounting.
