The Dell PowerEdge R640 fits two Xeon Platinum 8160 processors and 256 GB of DDR4 memory into a single rack unit. It targets workloads that need high core counts and fast storage in a compact footprint.

H730P controller with eight drive bays

Eight 2.5-inch SATA SSDs connect to the PERC H730P RAID controller, which supports RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50, 60 and pass-through modes. Dual 750 W redundant power supplies and a quad-port 1GbE/10GbE SFP+ network card leave PCIe slots free for additional adapters.

256 GB DDR4 with room to grow

The system ships with 256 GB of registered ECC DDR4 across eight 32 GB modules, leaving sixteen DIMM slots open for expansion up to the 3 TB maximum.
