The Dell PowerEdge R640 arrives as a new 1U rack system with two Intel Xeon Gold 6226 processors running at 2.7GHz. Each CPU provides 12 cores and 19.25 MB cache for multi-threaded workloads. The chassis supports four 3.5-inch drive bays and ships without drives installed. It targets organisations that need dense compute in a standard rack footprint.

256GB DDR4 ECC Memory

The system includes 256GB of DDR4 ECC registered memory across the available slots. Maximum supported capacity reaches 7.68TB when fully populated with compatible modules. Memory type is fixed to DDR4; other generations will not fit or function. Buyers planning larger datasets must procure additional DDR4 ECC modules separately.

PERC H740P RAID & iDRAC9

A Dell PERC H740P RAID controller manages the SATA drive bays and provides hardware RAID levels for data protection. Remote management uses iDRAC9 with an Enterprise licence for out-of-band monitoring and firmware updates. Dual 750W power supplies and a 10GbE two-port 562T adapter are fitted. Rail kit is available on request.
