The Dell PowerEdge R730 is a 2U rack server built around two Intel Xeon E5-2609 v3 six-core processors running at 1.9 GHz. It ships with 16 GB of DDR4 memory across 24 DIMM slots and includes a PERC H330 RAID controller supporting RAID 0, 1, 5, 10, 50 and 60. The system targets IT teams deploying virtualization hosts, database servers or internal business applications that need dual-socket compute density in a standard rack footprint.

Eight hot-plug bays with redundant power and SAS

The chassis provides eight 2.5-inch hot-plug drive bays accepting SAS or SATA drives, with two 300 GB 15K RPM SAS drives pre-installed. Dual 750 W redundant hot-swap power supplies keep the platform running during a single supply failure. A four-port 1 GbE daughter card handles baseline networking, while up to seven PCIe 3.0 slots plus a dedicated PERC slot allow storage, GPU or high-speed NIC expansion without proprietary constraints.

iDRAC8 remote management and lifecycle automation

The integrated iDRAC8 with Lifecycle Controller enables agent-free deployment, firmware updates and hardware monitoring from any browser. Express licensing is included, with Enterprise and vFlash media upgrades available for advanced scripting and virtual media. A DVD-ROM drive and Matrox G200eR2 video provide local install and console access when remote paths are unavailable. The server ships without an operating system, letting administrators load their preferred hypervisor or OS image.
