The PowerEdge R730 is a 2U rack system equipped with two Intel Xeon E5-2660 v3 processors running at 2.6 GHz with a 3.3 GHz turbo frequency. Each CPU provides 10 cores, giving 20 threads in total for parallel workloads. The platform targets midsize and large enterprises running virtualisation, databases or high-performance computing nodes.

Redundant 750 W platinum PSUs and hot-swap cooling

Two 750 watt platinum-efficiency power supplies operate in a redundant hot-swap configuration. The chassis uses forced-air cooling designed for continuous operation in data-centre environments. Power draw scales with CPU load and installed drives, while the platinum rating helps reduce waste heat under typical utilisation.

24 DDR4 slots and eight 2.5" drive bays

The board offers 24 DIMM slots supporting up to 1.5 TB of registered ECC DDR4 memory, currently populated with eight 32 GB modules at 2133 MHz. Storage connects through a PERC H730 controller with 1 GB cache enabling RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60. Eight front-accessible 2.5-inch trays accept SAS or SATA drives but ship empty. A quad-port network daughter card provides two 1 GbE and two 10 GbE SFP+ links. iDRAC 8 Enterprise gives dedicated out-of-band management. ReadyRails and a front bezel are included for standard rack mounting.
