Dual 14-Core Xeon Server

The Dell PowerEdge R730 is a 2U rack server fitted with two Intel Xeon E5-2660 v4 processors. Each CPU runs at 2.0 GHz with a 3.2 GHz turbo frequency and provides 14 cores, giving 28 cores in total. The system ships with 128 GB of DDR4 2400 MHz registered ECC memory across eight 16 GB modules. It is aimed at midsize and large enterprises running virtualisation, databases, VDI or high-performance computing workloads.

Storage and Network Limits

The onboard PERC H730 controller supports SAS and SATA drives with RAID levels 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60 plus pass-through mode. The chassis holds eight 2.5-inch drive bays but no drives are included. Network connectivity comes from an Intel X520/I350 daughter card that provides two 1 GbE ports and two 10 Gb SFP+ ports. iDRAC 8 Enterprise enables remote management independent of the operating system.

Memory Headroom and Power

The platform uses DDR4 registered ECC memory and offers 24 DIMM slots with a maximum supported capacity of 1.5 TB. The current 128 GB configuration leaves substantial room for expansion as workloads grow. Dual 750 W platinum-efficiency power supplies provide full redundancy and hot-swap capability. The server includes ready rails and a front bezel for immediate rack installation.
